IDF-X “Special Forces” Training Program
ARE YOU SURE YOU’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES?
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport where IDF-X representatives will complete your background security check and screening. Then it’s time to load up your gear and head out to your training base in Gush Etzion, due south of Jerusalem. Once you have met your fellow brothers-in-arms & set up camp, your commanding officer will set out the ground rules and expectations of the IDF-X program. Do you have what it takes?Day 1
HELL IS A PLACE ON EARTH
As dawn breaks over the Judean Hills your comfortable bed at home will seem a thousand miles away. Try not to think about it too much – just concentrate on the challenges at hand as you begin a full regimen of physical training. Breakfast & then it’s time to learn the fundamentals of hand-to-hand combat – Krav Maga. Off to the firing range where seasoned combat marksmen will instruct you how to assess your target, balance your weapon, master your breathing and squeeze the trigger for the perfect shot… The remainder of the day is dedicated to navigation exercises as you learn to find your way by foot both in the light & in the dark of night. Stealth, speed & an accurate reading of the terrain are all skills that are essential to the Israeli special ops as he makes his way deep behind enemy lines and home again.Day 2
KADIMA! DON’T GIVE UP YET
Wake up! Today you graduate from boot camp. Having your last early morning fitness regimen and Krav Maga training, you will feel a significant improvement in your strength, agility and overall physical fitness. But there is still work to be done. Following breakfast you will begin Advanced Maneuvers Training where you will learn essential military strategies and tactics. After lunch you will put your navigation skills to the test as you set off into the hills on an ATV navigation exercise. In order to graduate from Boot Camp, all IDFX soldiers in training, will complete the ‘March of the Lamed Hey’; the final mission of the Lamed Hey Brigade in the 1948 War of Independence. Congratulations! You have completed Boot Camp and are ready to apply what you’ve learnt and progress to the advanced stages of the program.Day 3
THE BATTLE FOR JERUSALEM
Jerusalem is in our hands, but it wasn’t long ago that bloody battles waged throughout the city. Today as you learn about the Battles for Jerusalem, you will be taken back to Gush Etzion as it was in 1948, to understand the history of the courageous battle that took place. The story of heroism brings us down Burma Road, through the Castel— a fortified summit located at the Judean Mountains—and on to Latrun, the strategic hilltop in the Ayalon Valley. As the battle of 1948 becomes clearer, you will ascend to Ammunition Hill where you as a team will navigate through the trenches and begin to understand the mighty battle for Jerusalem that continued until 1967’s Six-Day War.
As Shabbat begins in Jerusalem you will enter the Old City and walk in the footsteps of the heroic paratroopers who liberated and reunited the City of Jerusalem with its nation.Day 4
YOU’LL NEED IT!
Shabbat is a chance for you to physically and spiritually prepare your mind and body for the upcoming week of training. After this period of R & R you as a team will experience a thrilling 4×4 Jeep tour through the desert night, concluding with a bonfire with your fellow comrades.Day 5
ANTI TERRORISM – ‘WE’VE COME TO TAKE YOU HOME’
You can handle a gun and protect yourself in any situation, now is the big test. Can you handle a hostage situation?? You will be put through intensive anti-terroism training and learn the art of selective shooting. Using the ultimate hostage rescue mission of all time, The Entebbe Raid of 1976, will show you how it’s done. Meet the elite hostage rescue unit of the IDF and learn from the best.Day 6
YOU THINK IT’S DIFFICULT ON LAND, WAIT TILL YOU GET INTO THE WATER
Leaving the protective hills behind you, you will find yourself travelling towards the coast which means one thing – Amphibious warfare. Training on the beach sand and meeting Shayetet 13 Naval commandos, you will be pushed to the limits. Learning about the evolution of frogmen and naval combat, aggression, assertiveness and brute determination is what you’ll need to survive. As you proceed through this stage of the program you will develop a strong sense of the importance of self defense modeling from Hana Senesh, Palyam fighters and other Jewish heroes.Day 7
DESERT WARFARE – IT’S DRY, IT’S HOT AND THERE’S NO TURNING BACK
You will find yourself heading East towards the Judean desert where you will explore the deserts dry river bed. Here you will put your skills to the test as you as you learn to apply life saving desert survival and camouflage technique. In order to get through this rugged terrain you will need to navigate and use all the torque and horsepower that the 4×4 and your own body has to offer. As you set up camp and the sun sets you will realize that you are far away from home.Day 8
AIRFORCE TRAINING – THE SKY IS NOT THE LIMIT
Only the best make it into the air force – today you will be a part of a fighter pilot’s reality. As you visit an air-force base, and get a close look at an F16 jet fighter you will meet the pilots and see what it is that makes them the best of the best. Just when you feel that you’ve made it, you must prepare yourself for the ultimate test of tandem skydiving, proving that even the sky is not the limit.Day 9
GRADUATION – YOU’RE ALMOST THERE!!
You have survived nine grueling days of the IDFX training program, making the tenth day the final challenge. You will be put to the test of everything you have learnt throughout the program and only once you have proven yourself and completed all tasks you will find yourself proudly marching towards your graduation ceremony. This will be a moment you will not forget as you and your fellow brothers in arms receive recognition of all your successes and achievements.
