Frequently asked questions

ABOUT PLANNING A COMMUNITY TRIP TO ISRAEL

What is the Dorot Bar & Bat Mitzvah Family Experience?

The Dorot program is a 10-day group experience for families celebrating a Bar or Bat Mitzvah in Israel. It’s designed for families who want a meaningful, fun, and shared way to mark this special milestone together with others. The journey blends exciting touring across Israel with opportunities for reflection, celebration, and connection,  bringing Jewish heritage to life for both kids and adults.

What does the program include?

The Dorot package includes everything you need for a seamless and inspiring experience. Families enjoy quality  4-star accommodations, daily breakfast, group meals, a luxury air-conditioned coach, entrance fees to all sites and attractions, and an expert Israel Maven tour educator who guides the group throughout the journey. The program also includes a meaningful Bar & Bat Mitzvah ceremony experience, special family activities, and full support from the Israel Maven team.

Who is this program for?

The Dorot Family Experience is designed for families with Bar or Bat Mitzvah–age children who want to celebrate this milestone in Israel as part of a warm, like-minded group. It’s perfect for families seeking a balance of meaning, adventure, and connection, combining sightseeing, hands-on experiences, and opportunities to deepen ties with Israel and Jewish tradition.  This trip offers the opportunity to travel in Israel in a more affordable way than doing a private trip.

What is the religious affiliation of the trip?

The Dorot program is open and welcoming to families of all Jewish backgrounds. The trip incorporates Jewish traditions and values in a way that is inclusive, respectful, and accessible to everyone. All meals provided by the group are kosher, and the itinerary is designed to honor Shabbat with time to rest, reflect, and enjoy family time together. The ceremony is personalized for each family, allowing you to celebrate in a way that aligns with your own religious preferences and traditions.

What is the activity level of the Dorot program?

The itinerary is thoughtfully designed for multigenerational families, combining active exploration with balanced downtime. Each day includes walking tours, hands-on experiences, and fun adventure activities that children, parents, and grandparents can all enjoy together. The pace allows for both excitement and relaxation, ensuring a comfortable and engaging experience for participants of all ages.

How big is the group?

The group size will range from 10 to 15 families, allowing for a friendly and personal atmosphere. It’s small enough to build real connections and form new friendships, but large enough to create a dynamic and engaging group experience, truly celebrating together.

Will there be free time for families to explore on their own?

Yes! The itinerary includes some free time for families to relax, shop, or enjoy activities at their own pace, especially on Shabbat and select evenings. Many families also choose to extend their stay in Israel after the group program to visit relatives or explore further on their own.
