DAY 1 -  MONDAY - AUGUST 31, 2026 - ARRIVAL: ISRAEL BEGINS ON THE WAY IN

Coastal City Skyline

The journey starts before you reach your hotel. On the drive from Ben Gurion Airport into Tel Aviv, we make our first stop — one that sets the tone for everything that follows.

Magen David Adom National Blood Services Centre, Ramle

Located minutes from the airport, MDA is Israel's national emergency medical, ambulance, and blood bank service — and a quiet, powerful emblem of the shared society. Jewish and Arab paramedics work side by side here every day. The facility supplies 97% of blood used by Israeli hospitals and 100% of blood used by the IDF. It is not a tourist attraction. It is Israel at work.

Tel Aviv — Check In & Free Time

Afternoon at leisure to settle in, explore the seafront, and recover from the journey.

ANU — Museum of the Jewish People

An immersive, world-class institution that tells the story of the Jewish people in all its diversity — Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Mizrahi, Ethiopian, Yemenite, Indian, and beyond. The ingathering of exiles made visual and human. For a group that believes in pluralism, this is the Israeli story you came to see.

Opening Dinner & Guest Speaker

We open the evening with a framing conversation that sets the intellectual and emotional context for the days ahead. Two outstanding options:

  • Option A: Dr. Yoav Fromer — Founding Director, Center for the Study of the United States, Tel Aviv University. One of Israel's leading analysts of the US-Israel relationship, Dr. Fromer brings a sharp, honest perspective on how America sees Israel in 2026 — and what that means for communities like yours.

  • Option B: Haviv Rettig Gur — Senior Political Analyst, The Times of Israel. One of the clearest and most thoughtful voices explaining Israeli society, democracy, and the diaspora relationship to international audiences.

Overnight: Dan Panorama Hotel, Tel Aviv

Frequently asked questions

ABOUT JOINING A TRIP TO ISRAEL

What should I pack for my trip to Israel?

For a smooth and comfortable trip, we recommend packing versatile layers, comfortable walking shoes, and modest attire for religious sites. Check out our detailed winter packing list here to ensure you’re fully prepared!

Do I need an entry visa for Israel?

All visitors from Visa-exempt countries (such as USA, Canada, UK, France, Australia & South Africa) are required to fill out an ETA-IL (Electronic Authorization for Travel to Israel) form online prior to departure for Israel. There is a cost for this service.  https://israel-entry.piba.gov.il/

What are the electrical voltage requirements in Israel?

Israel operates on a 220V electrical system with a Type H plug, which has three prongs. Many electronic devices, including laptops and phone chargers, automatically adjust to different voltages, but it is always best to check before use. Since Israeli outlets differ from those in the U.S. and other countries, a plug adapter is necessary. Most hotels have adapters available at the front desk, but it is advisable to bring your own to ensure convenience.

Can I withdraw cash from an ATM in Israel?

ATMs throughout Israel dispense New Israeli Shekels (NIS) and accept most international debit and credit cards. However, it is recommended that you check with your home bank regarding daily withdrawal limits and any fees for foreign transactions. Some banks may also require advance notification of your travel plans to prevent your card from being blocked for overseas use. ATMs are readily available at the airport, in hotels, and in major cities. While credit cards, particularly Visa and Mastercard, are widely accepted, cash may still be necessary for small vendors, open-air markets like Machane Yehuda, and taxis.

What is the tipping policy in Israel?

Tipping is customary in Israel, particularly in the service and tourism industries. In restaurants, a 12% tip is standard, while 15–20% is appropriate for excellent service. It is generally preferred that tips be given in cash rather than included on a credit card, as service fees added to card transactions may not always reach the server. Some restaurants automatically include service in the bill, so it is a good idea to check before tipping.

For tour guides and drivers, tipping varies based on group size. For private groups of fewer than 20 people, a recommended tip for a tour guide is $75–$125 per day. For larger groups of 20 or more, it is suggested that each participant contribute $5–$7 per day for the guide and $3–$5 per day for the driver.

How does Israel Maven ensure safety and security during the trip?

The safety of our travelers is our highest priority. We adhere to the latest security directives from the Israeli Police, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), and other relevant authorities to ensure that all travel routes and activities comply with updated safety guidelines. Our team continuously monitors real-time updates regarding security conditions, travel advisories, and weather-related considerations. If necessary, adjustments to the itinerary will be made to prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants. In addition, all our guides are professionally trained to handle emergency situations, ensuring a secure and smooth travel experience.

What happens if I need to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances?

While we strive to be as accommodating as possible, Israel Maven is bound by contractual agreements with hotels, guides, and other service providers, meaning that refunds cannot be guaranteed. Participants should review our cancellation policy for specific details regarding refunds and potential penalties. To protect against financial loss due to last-minute cancellations caused by illness, security concerns, or personal emergencies, we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.
